This course traces the development of radical theology and its engagement with political theology and new materialism, specifically focusing on the question of energy. First we will examine some of the background of radical theology. Then we will read an essay by Catherine Keller on "The Energy We Are" in relation to some of Keller's other work on process, postmodern, and eco-theology. Third, we will engage with the Introduction to Clayton Crockett's new book Energy and Change. Finally, we will read an essay by Luce Irigaray on "A New Culture of Energy" that situates philosophy and religion "beyond East and West."

Intended Learning Outcomes:

The seminar will introduce the student to the the key concepts and ideas that have given rise to Radical Theology, offering an historical and contextual overview of the various streams in radical theological thought. The seminar will also address the potentials and possibilities Radical Theology offers those who are interested to redefining faith and community life in the 21st century
