This programme familiarizes participants and researchers with basic and advanced critical knowledge of psychoanalysis by some of the world’s leading psychoanalysts. It is a certificate designed for:
professional mental health care workers who seek to expand their practice techniques
academics who seek to advance their critical research findings
the general public interested in the subject
Intended Learning Outcomes:
Enhancement of critical thinking and communication skills for professional advancement.
Basic and advanced knowledge of psychoanalysis in the Freudian, Lacanian, and Existentialist traditions (including the Slovenian, French, and North American orientations).
Requirements:
complete four (4) courses (from the seminars listed on this page) within one year. You must take three (3) live seminars (from the list on the left column) on Zoom or in person). You may take as many live courses as you wish, and you may take one “self-paced” course from the archived seminars, but this is not required.

Procedure:
Once you enroll you will receive a gcas.ie (google based) email + apps account. You will need to use your gcas.ie account to access the seminar and course materials.

FAQs
Q: Can I take one course in the certificate programme and not take all four courses?
A: Yes, of course.
Q: I am in a BA degree programme currently, do I qualify to apply for this certificate programme?
A: Yes, anyone can take this programme regardless of prior education levels.
Q: What is the “certificate examination”?
A: It is a final examination that ensures you have learned the central concepts of the programme. The examination is a written response to core questions such as, “What is anxiety?” It is three (3) hours in length. You may use notes, books, articles, and the lecture recordings to help you compose your responses so long as you cite your sources. It is graded “pass/fail”. You may retake the examination if necessary. The cost of a retake examination is 100€.
Q: I have a learning disability. Do you offer accommodation?
A: Yes, we can allow more time for you to take the examination if you qualify.
Q: If I can’t make the live lecture/discussion sessions may I still complete the programme?
A: Yes, so long as you view the recorded materials and make a good effort to attend the live sessions.
Q: Can I take more than four (4) courses?
A: Yes, you may take as many courses as you like in this programme for up to 1 year.
Q: If I’m a monthly subscriber can I take these courses?
A: Yes, however, in order for you to receive a certificate, you must successfully pass the Psychoanalysis examination, which will cost 689€.
Q: What happens if I take a course separately, just to try it out and I want to enroll in the certificate programme?
A: We will credit you the cost of the course (up to 200€) once you enroll in the certificate programme.
Q: What happens if it takes me longer than a year to complete?
A: You may continue beyond 1 year for a fee of 400€ for the next year.
Q: Does the tuition-fee cover the cost of Bruce Fink and Todd McGowan’s live and in-person seminars?
A: You only have to pay an additional 100€ per in-person seminar to help cover the venue costs.
