“Understanding Riots and Protests”

Description

This course approaches the social phenomena of both riots and protests from an analytical and theoretical approach. We will examine questions of what riots and protests are and how they relate to the economic, social, political organization of society.

Format and Schedule

The format of this seminar will be both asynchronous learning and live meet-up online in the GCAS platform via Zoom on the following days:

Perquisites

Participants must be 16 years old or older to enroll.

Technology and Environment

Students will need to have a computer and access to the internet, and to Zoom (free to download here: https://zoom.us). Students will also need a private, relatively quite space, to attend learning sessions.

  • Gain a deeper and more critical comprehension and grasp on riots and protests and their relationship to social organization.

Enrollment Procedure:

Once a participant enrolls they will be issued a “GCAS.ie” google based email a few days prior to the start of the seminar/course. The GCAS.ie email account will be used by the participant to access the course APP Platform in which the researcher will have access to, the Zoom links, recordings, and other course materials provided by the professor. A participant is expected to activate their GCAS.ie email account within 36 hours of issuance.

Certificate of Completion

A PDF copy of a certificate will be issued to each participant upon successfully completing this program. Should the participant who completes the program desire a hard copy of the certificate be sent to them physically, there will be an additional charge for shipping and handling costs which may vary depending on the participant’s location.
