This seminar will introduce the basics of psychoanalytic theory and practice, as well as current critical perspective on them.

Intended Learning Outcomes:
To develop an understanding of key psychoanalytic notions, including pleasure principle, death drive, the Real, jouissance, the subject.
To develop an understanding of potential critical avenues for the analysis
To distinguish the divergent philosophical and psychoanalytic approaches
To critically evaluate the ethical, political and social implications of the entrance
Assessments:
GCAS enrolled Researchers will be assessed in all aspects of this course through the following means (see GCAS learning platform for a full description).
E-School researchers will be assessed in a research response to the seminar between 1,000-2,000 words in length. You must pass this assessment to complete the course successfully.
